An analysis of Top Nigerian Skit Makers on Instagram and YouTube and their output in the first half of 2023.
A few months ago, we released our first quarterly skit makers analysis for 2023 where we welcomed some new names to our list with some popular names still maintaining their spot among the top players in the industry. Our analysis for Q1 2023 focused on analyzing the top 5 male and female skit makers respectively on Instagram based on the number of views gained across all skit videos posted in the quarter. We also took time to recognize the work of content creators who are also gaining good numbers from their comics on YouTube by analyzing the top 20 skit makers on YouTube based on the number of views gained in Q1 2023.
This time, our analysis for H1 2023 takes a new dimension for Instagram skit makers. We analyzed the top 10 skit makers generally based on the total number of views gained from all skit videos posted in the first half of the year, from January to June 2023. While some creators may have taken a break, the world of entertainment keeps on moving. People may take a break, but the numbers do not.
Our analysis showed some similarities with Q1 2023 with some popular names making our list and a new entry for the first time taking a place among the top 10. Our research team at Dataleum did a fantastic job in thoroughly carrying out wide research and analysis on these comic creators and their ability to keep us entertained time and time again with their numbers.
So if you’re a big fan of these skit makers, stay with us on this ride, and enjoy our in-depth analysis as we highlight the standout performers and a breakdown of how each skit maker performed.
But, hold on! Before you keep reading, take a guess on who you think will take the lead this time from the top 10 on Instagram.

10. Agent of laughter
Godson Chukwuebuka Eze made his first-ever entry into our list in Q1 2023 where he came in 4th place in the male category, and this time again, he has proven his audience enjoys his content by taking a place among the top 10 skit makers on Instagram for the first half of 2023.
Agent of laughter, as he is fondly called, recorded a total of 36M views from 43 skit videos posted within the time period. Comparing his values for Q1 and Q2 across various engagements like views, comments, and likes; we observe a decrease in all values as Q1 showed better numbers as compared to Q2.
Godson might have had a bad Q2 from his numbers, but we are certain he has great content to offer in the coming months, and we definitely can’t wait to see more of him on our screens.

9. Bimbo Ademoye
Don’t be surprised! Iya Barakat 😅 made it again to our list! Bimbo Ademoye is well known for her amazing roles in Nollywood blockbuster movies, but, she is also a very creative content creator with over 2 million followers laughing daily at her skit videos.
Her Teropi Secxxions where she plays the role of a therapy expert to individuals and couples are really generating good numbers as she recorded a significant increase in the number of views from 16M views to 21M views in Q1 and Q2 respectively. A similar trend is also noticed with other metrics such as comments and likes.
With a total of 37M views, 5M likes, 185K comments, and 42 skit videos posted across the first six months of the year, Bimbo Ademoye comes in 9th place on our list of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers on Instagram for H1 2023.
We are sure she has more to give in this new quarter and we are staying glued to our screens to enjoy more of her hilarious content.

8. Oluwadolarz
Introducing….a new entry to our list! Oluwadolarz didn’t make it to our Q1 2023 list of the top 5 for the male category, but, analyzing his values at the end of H1 2023, he doubled the number of views gained in Q1 which gives him a grand welcome to our top 10 list for H1 2023.
Oluwadolarz boasts 4.2M followers currently on Instagram who enjoys his content. Comparing this number with the value obtained at the end of Q1, we observed a growth of 200K followers from Q1 to Q2. He also showed similar growth across other metrics as he doubled his value for views from 13M views at the end of Q1 to 26M views at the end of Q2. This could be a result of the difference in the number of skit videos posted, as he posted 31 and 37 videos respectively in Q1 and Q2.
With a total of 39M views, 5M likes, 169K comments, and 68 skit videos posted from January to June 2023, Oluwadolarz takes 8th place on our list of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers on Instagram for H1 2023.
As we watch out for more content in Q3, we are confident he will make better numbers this quarter and we hope to see him again on our list.
7. Kiekie
Do we need to introduce Kiekie??
I don’t think we need to, because Kiekie is widely known to keep her fans busy with laughter all day. With her various content styles and the different roles she plays in her videos – from fashion designer to housemaid or pharmacist, Kiekie definitely knows her craft in making people forget their worries with laughter.
Analyzing her numbers for Q1 and Q2, we noticed a drop in the views from her skit videos. In Q1, she gained over 21M views as compared to Q2 where she had a lower value of 19M views. A similar instance is also observed in other metrics as she had lower numbers in Q2 for likes, comments, and the number of skit videos posted.
With a total of 40M views, 5M likes, 156K comments, and 56 skit videos posted, Kiekie sits comfortably in 7th place on our list of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers on Instagram for H1 2023.
Will she deliver bigger numbers this quarter than she achieved for Q2 or Q1? Let’s watch and see as we await the end of September for our next analysis.
6. Brainjotter
He wasn’t featured in our Q1 2023 list for the male category but he made a comeback this time for the top 10 in H1 2023.
We are referring to no other person than the popular guy with the green shirt, Brainjotter. Brainjotter recorded significant growth from Q1 to Q2. In Q1, he had a total of 16M views from 25 skit videos posted. In Q2, these values were increased as he had over 25M views from 29 skit videos posted. We also noticed a similar growth in other metrics like comments and likes.
Brainjotter is a very creative and hilarious personality. A new style of content he does is the classroom setting where he plays the role of a teacher (NYSC corps member) to secondary students, bringing fun and humour to his classes to make viewers laugh and anticipate for the next content to be posted.
Brainjotter amassed a total of 41M views from 54 skit videos posted for H1 2023 which gives him the 6th position on our list, with likes and comments summing up to 7M and 230K respectively.
He came back better and stronger in Q2 after low figures in Q1 and we hope to see him do bigger figures in Q3.

5. Layiwasabi
Layiwasabi made his debut on our list in Q1 2023 for the top 5 in the male category and this time again, he has also proven his craft in comedy as he shows up again on the top 10 list for H1 2023.
Layiwasabi has gained a huge fanbase through a combination of hilarious storytelling and diverse characterization. If he is not acting as a lawyer, he is playing the role of a lecturer or the role of a financial expert trying to win a client into a Ponzi scheme. 😅
In his first appearance on our list in Q1, he recorded 19M views from 25 skit videos posted. And in Q2, even with less number of skit videos posted, he gained an increase in views to 24M. In total for H1, he gained 43M views, 5M likes, and 318K comments respectively; and he sits comfortably in the 5th position on our list of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers on Instagram for H1 2023.
With the rate at which he is growing, you will think this is a skit, but it’s not! Layiwasabi has quickly become a fan favourite and it is not difficult to see why. We are expecting to see more from him in Q3.
4. Taaooma
And still…..
Quarter on quarter, month on month, year on year, Taaooma keeps proving her “queenship” in the skit makers industry.
In our Q1 2023 analysis of the top 5 female skit makers on Instagram, Taaooma retains her spot as Number 1 and she has done it again this time for the H1 2023 analysis as the Number 1 woman on the list.
Taaooma needs no introduction as she is widely known for her creativity in playing different family roles in her skit videos which have consistently generated huge numbers in engagements. She recorded an equal number of views of 22M in Q1 and Q2 respectively, with an equal number of likes of 3M in the two quarters as well. However, we observed she posted less number of skit videos in Q2 and got an increase in comments in Q2 as compared to Q1.
With a total of 44M views across 54 skit videos posted, Taaooma makes it to the 4th place on our list and we are certain she will remain consistent in her craft. We can’t wait to see what she has got for us in Q3 as we prepare our next analysis in a few months.

3. Brodashaggi
If our favourite car mechanic is not on this list, then be sure the list is not complete.
Brodashaggi is a talented superstar. He has involvement in movies and music, and we are fascinated by how he combines these two with skit-making to stay at the top of his game.
Comparing his numbers for Q1 and Q2, we observed an increase in views from 30M to 33M. For skit videos posted, Brodashaggi posted more in Q1, having 56 and 52 videos posted in Q1 and Q2 respectively. His likes showed an equal number of 4M for Q1 and Q2, while there was a reduction of 20K comments from Q1 to Q2.
With a total of 63M views across 108 skit videos posted in the first half of the year, Brodashaggi takes the 3rd place on our list for the H1 2023 Instagram skit makers analysis, the same spot he held in our Q1 2023 analysis for the male category.
With Q3 gone by over 20 days, will Brodashaggi attain a higher position at the end of Q3? We are watching…👀
2. Sabinus
Mr. Investor made a huge investment in comedy and it’s really paying off!
Chukwuemeka Emmanuel Ejekwu, our very-own Investor Sabinus, is a favourite among many when it comes to skit making. Sabinus with his looks in the blue shirt, very short tie, nice black trousers, and very attractive black sneakers has won the hearts of his fans with his consistent and creative style of content-making.
Comparing his values for Q1 and Q2, there was a decrease across all metrics. He had 35M views and 29M views in Q1 and Q2, with 41 and 29 skit videos posted respectively in the two quarters. He also showed lower numbers of likes and comments in Q2 as compared to Q1.
However, with these low numbers, Sabinus tops the chart for likes and comments among all 10 skit makers, amassing a total of 10M likes and 454K comments in H1 2023.
With a total of 64M views across 70 skit videos posted, Sabinus takes the Number 2 spot in our analysis of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers for the first half of 2023.
Like he always says, should we be expecting “something hoooooooooge” from him in Q3???
1. Mark Angel
Our No.1! Some expected this! Some may be doubting!

Mark Angel started out on YouTube to show his comic content to the world and went on to become the Nigerian with the highest number of subscribers and views on the platform. He then decided to extend his reign to the shores of Instagram, and he has been doing well.
He made his debut appearance on our list in Q1 2023 where he clinched the Number 1 spot, and he is back again for H1 2023 to do the same, with bigger numbers this time.
He recorded an increase across all metrics from views, likes, and comments; and he also posted more skit videos in Q2 as compared to Q1. However, we noticed he came in the 9th position in the chart for total comments. But should this cause a need for worries?
Comparing values from his analysis in the two quarters, he had a total of 44M views and 70M views in Q1 and Q2 respectively. Also, he posted 53 skit videos in Q1 as compared to 61 videos posted in Q2; and recorded an increase of 1M in likes and an increase of 14K in comments from Q1 to Q2.
With a total of 114M views from 114 skit videos posted from January to June 2023, he retains the same spot from Q1 2023 as he takes first place on our list of the top 10 Nigerian skit makers on Instagram for H1 2023.

With the rise of social media, it’s no secret that YouTube has become a hub for comedy skits. From hilarious spoofs to relatable content, the skit makers on YouTube have made us laugh uncontrollably with their unique sense of humour. In this article, we will be exploring the top 20 skit makers on YouTube, based on total views gained in H1 2023.
As expected, featured on the Top 20 list are some names from the Instagram analysis who also gained good numbers in their views on YouTube for the first quarter of the year. Names like Brodashaggi, Mark Angel, Taaooma, Sabinus, KieKie, and Bimbo Ademoye, amongst other popular names in the industry got featured in the Top 20.
Coming top of the list is Sam spedy who gained over 82M views on YouTube from H1 2023. Following closely are Mark Angel, Brainjotter, Brodashaggi, and Sabinus who took the second, third, fourth, and fifth positions respectively. Appearing on the list also include names like Oluwadolarz, Nosa Rex, Funny Bros, Josh2funny, Zicsaloma, and Real Warri Pikin, who made her debut on the YouTube list.
